CANDLELIT SNOWSHOE & SKY LANTERN SEND-OFF: Enjoy snowshoeing by candlelight, with luminaries lighting your way along the 1-mile Presque Isle Nature Trail Loop (longer/shorter options available). Bring your own snowshoes or limited pairs are available. Sip on hot cocoa under the outdoor pavilion, and roast marshmallows next to the toasty-warm fire. We’ll also take a moment to renew our resolutions or to make a wish with your very own sky lantern send-off ($10 per biodegradable lantern). FREE FISHING WEEKENDS: February has a free fishing weekend in Michigan generally in middle of month (check for current year dates). Wisconsin also has free fishing weekend generally around January 20 (check for current year dates). Cabin is close to Wisconsin border. Cisco Chain of Lakes has Wisconsin and Michigan lakes and some are allowed on border to use license joining. Other lakes in area like that also (view map, etc. information to verify).

ICE SKATING: Down from the downtown area in Land O Lakes. To the left by the town hall area. Enjoy ice skating at the rink. Fees possibly apply.
WATERSMEET OTTAWA INTERPRETIIVE CENTER (In OTTAWA VISITOR CENTER): Bears Den Gift Shop. Books, clothing, gift items, and more. www.ottawainterpretive.org. Ottawa Visitor Center has displays, maps, presentations and more.
WINTER & SPRING SITESEEING, WATERFALLS & MORE: Some of the waterfalls such as Bond Falls have boardwalks and boarded walking paths. For Winter adventuring this could make it easier than in the middle of the woods hiking paths. Some waterfalls could be seen off the forestry roads (to a point, limited) such as Kakabika, Yondota and some others. Agate Falls (without using a snowmobile or ORV ATV UTV during other months) some of it could be seen off the highway area by the park. Going down some of the plowed roads you could see some of the historic sites, beautiful scenery, wildlife and more. Could always check with the Forestry Service Office or the Ottawa National Forest office, etc. in Watersmeet (up on the hill by Highway 45 and Highway 2) for more information and maps.
GOING FROM WINTER TO SPRING MAPLE SYRUP FEST: Annual Maple Syrup Fest. Sugar bush tours. Tree tapping demos. Childrens activities. Arts and crafts. Maple treats. Educationals classes. GOING FROM WINTER TO SPRING ICE OUT - April - ICE OUT PARTY & MUSIC, ETC. – Lake Gogebic & Lake Superior. View Mother Nature at her best! Bring your camera and await the thunderous sounds of large ice bergs breaking up & moving out into Lake Superior. Spring is a great time to see waterfalls when the thaw is going on for velocity of water, etc. “Ice Out Party” and music. Verify for 2018, etc. dates.
GOING FROM WINTER TO SPRING WATERFALL TOURING: Spring is a beautiful time to see the waterfalls when there is Spring thaw. Rushing water velocity, beautiful sounds of thawing, snow on the edges like a picture frame, wildlife starts to be heard more often, etc. Some areas with boardwalks to walk on instead of trail systems.
